sold / Adam glass round dining table by Galotti and Radice, 1970s

sold

Already in 1932, Pietro Chiesa was experimenting with curving extensive surfaces of glass and realised the first monolithic glass table. It was called Ponte, Italian for ‘bridge’. Departing from these latest glass technologies, Chiesa then started exploring other designs, among which a coffee table (1936) based on the same principle as this dining table on display.
It is possible that Chiesa was also responsible for the design of this glass miracle. Another possibility might be that another designer working for Fontana Arte, was inspired by Chiesa’s coffee table and reissued it in the guise of a dining table.
