sold / Cherry wood art deco desk, 1930s/40s, France

available

This beautifully crafted Art Deco desk from around 1935–1945 is made entirely from solid cherry wood, not veneer. It features the characteristic rounded “ribbed” front panels, symmetrical design, and streamlined shapes typical of late Art Deco. This sculpted façade is almost a signature element of French Art Deco from the 1930s and 1940s, and was also produced by Belgian ateliers, especially in Brussels and Liège.

The piece shows signs of age and wear, but the construction is very strong and the craftsmanship is excellent. One drawer is currently still stuck, and I’m working on opening it. If there’s a treasure inside, I’ll split it 50/50 with the buyer, haha.
