This modernist robust set of sofas was designed by an unknown Dutch artist close to Martin Visser in the 1960s. Visser (1922–2009) was a renowned Dutch furniture designer and architect known for his minimalist and functionalist designs. He played a significant role in shaping the modernist design movement in the Netherlands during the mid-20th century.
The wengé wood that is used for this design comes from the Millettia laurentii tree, native to Congo, Cameroon, Gabon and Equitorial Guinea . It was then much sought-after for floors and cabinet making for its beautiful dark aesthetic with distinctive grain patterns, but also for its ability to withstand heavy use.

good vintage condition. Structurally there are no flaws. The leather cushions have been treated with leather wax for hydration. Cusions are in fair condition with moderate to heavy patination and crackling, consistent with age and use. All missing buttons have been replaced, using the sofa's original leather from the bottom side of one cushion.
