sold
Designed in the early 1980s by the Milanese design trio De Pas, D’Urbino & Lomazzi for Sirrah, these Cloche lamps embody everything that makes the trio so unique: soft, playful, and just a little absurd. The Cloche design features a white opaline acrylic tube that leans casually into a baby blue fabric base, more like it’s lounging than standing upright.
And that’s entirely the point. The designers wanted to move away from the idea that a lamp should be rigid, functional, or formal. Inspired by a type of ashtray with a soft leather base filled with lead balls - designed so you could balance it on the armrest of a chair - they created an object with the same flexibility to be placed anywhere. The base is filled with tiny plastic pellets, allowing the lamp to tilt, sag slightly, and subtly adjust to your touch. It adapts to you, not the other way around.
The result is a sculptural piece that feels more like a character than a fixture. To me, it also resembles a dropped ice cream cone and would look very cute as a pair of night lamps next to your bed.
